D&M 5s Lathe Information page

I put this page together to serve as a resource for people trying to resurrect D&M CNC Lathes and Mills because Lab-Volt , who apparently purchased this line appears to be singluarly unhelpful.

 

D&M 5S Lathe: Apparently the one I have is a weird beast in that it does contain it's own PC. See pictures at bottom

Spindle Motor Drive board is manufactured by Control Techniques in the UK.
They have the manual on this board online in a scanned version here. To Set the spindle speed manually you can mount a 10 k potentiometer on the front panel and run the leads back to the board as follows:

  • Connect one end of the pot to screw terminal labelled +ref 10v (1)on the cheetah board.
  • Connect the other end of the pot to the min speed screw terminal(2) on the board.
  • Connect the wiper(center connection on the pot) to the "ref input" screw terminal(3) on the board.
